OUR BIGGEST CUCUMBER YET (AND ONLY OUR 2ND HARVEST EVER)

We weighed it three times because we didn't believe the number: 452 grams, just shy of a full pound, off a single organic cucumber plant growing in Queens, NYC.

What makes it wilder is that this is only the second cucumber we've ever harvested — period. No years of dialed-in technique, no fancy setup. Just a rooftop, a lot of watering, and clearly a plant that had other plans.

Why this matters for the whole project

Pickle Pusher NYC starts here: an organic cucumber garden turning into small-batch pickles, documented from the very first harvest. This cucumber is the literal seed (well, fruit) of everything else — the jars, the flavors, the shop we're building.

We'll be posting the full grow-to-jar process as it happens, not after the fact. First stop: figuring out what to actually do with a cucumber this size.

What's next

• Deciding whether this one becomes a full-size dill spear or gets cut down for a smaller batch
• Documenting the brine process start to finish for the first real batch
• More harvests as the rest of the plants catch up
